‏Researchers from the Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology participate in the Sustainability and Recycling Forum at Tikrit University.

A delegation from the Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology participated in the activities of the First Environmental Sustainability and Recycling Forum 2025, organized by the College of Science at Tikrit University in conjunction with World Earth Day. The event was attended by senior officials and academics, including several deans of colleges and directors of environmental departments, as well as a select group of academics and researchers from various Iraqi universities.
‏Dr. Zahraa Zahraw Farhan participated as a keynote speaker in the first scientific session, where she delivered a scientific lecture discussing the possibility of using bioactives to treat crude oil leaking into water bodies and how to produce environmentally friendly and inexpensive bio-based solutions to safely and effectively dispose of these leaks. Dr. Iman Shaker Awad also presented a scientific poster explaining the importance of water recycling for a sustainable future, presenting practical solutions to address the challenges of water scarcity in Iraq. The two researchers received special recognition from the President of Tikrit University, who awarded them the Forum Medal and a letter of appreciation in recognition of their outstanding research efforts. The forum also witnessed active participation from researchers Dr. Afaf Al-Sabbagh and Engineer Duaa Abdul-Razzaq Tarish from the Center, supporting the Center’s mission to promote collaborative environmental work.
