As part of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center

Assistant lecturer Israa Radi Abbas gave a lecture entitled (A comparative study between the process of coagulation-flocculation and electrocoagulation of accompanying water)
‏She explained in her lecture that the main goal of this study was to make a comparison between the chemical precipitation technique and the electrostatic precipitation technique in removing suspended materials and the oil content of the accompanying water. Iron chloride and polyaluminium chloride were used as coagulants, as well as polyelectrolytes and spagul sheets as coagulation aids, and the best results were in reducing turbidity. When iron chloride was combined with polyelectrolyte, as for the oil content, combining polyaluminum chloride with the aspagul herb showed the best results. As for electrical deposition, the effect of electric current and the distance between the electrodes was studied. A comparison was made between the two methods. It was noted that the traditional method is relatively more efficient in reducing from the turbidity of the accompanying water.
