Environmental Research Center participates in the Iraqi Youth Conference – Climate Protectors

The University of Technology/Environmental Research Center, represented by Dr. Muayad Naseer Muslim and Assistant lecturer Abdul Aziz Ahmed Hamad, participated in the Iraqi Youth Climate Protectors Conference, which was held under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office/Supreme Council for Youth and funded by the International Organization for Migration. The conference aimed to discuss regional and international developments and challenges related to climate change and its repercussions on Iraq, as well as the role of youth in supporting governmental and international institutions.
‏During the first discussion session, titled “The Impact of Drought on Internal Displacement and Security,” Dr. Mu’ayyad emphasized the importance of scientific research in reducing environmental displacement by enhancing cooperation between research centers at Iraqi universities and decision-makers to implement realistic and effective environmental solutions. This is achieved by motivating researchers to conduct fieldwork and providing material and moral incentives for those who contribute to solving real-life environmental problems. Furthermore, it is important to adopt modern technology, which is used in research to monitor the environment and measure its environmental impact.
‏The event concluded with a presentation of the final recommendations, which focused on enhancing cooperation between governmental institutions and youth, supporting sustainable environmental projects, and providing training and educational opportunities for youth in the field of environment and climate change.
